Prof.univ.dr.eng. Eugeniu Marchidanu (1940-2023)

 

It is with deep regret that the Doctoral School of the Technical University of Constructions in Bucharest announces the passing away of Professor Eugeniu Marchidanu, born on September 11, 1940, in the village of Berca, Buzău County. A man of rare intelligence and passion for geology, Professor Marchidanu was a light and an inexhaustible source of knowledge for all those who had the privilege to know him and to collaborate with him. After graduating from the Professional School of Constructions and Installations in Bucharest, he followed the academic path at the Faculty of Technical Geology of the Institute of Oil, Gas and Geology in Bucharest, obtaining the title of geological engineer in 1967. Throughout an impressive career, he has contributed significantly to the field of engineering geology, participating in the realization of large-scale projects both in Romania and abroad.

Professor Marchidanu was not only an eminent specialist, but also a devoted pedagogue, author of numerous scientific papers and reference books in the field. His contributions to the literature are appreciated and recognized nationally and internationally. But, beyond his professional achievements, those who knew him will remember the generosity, honesty and dedication with which he was involved in training and guiding the young generation of geologists and engineers. He was a role model, mentor and friend to many of us.

We have lost a great man, but his intellectual and moral legacy will continue to inspire and influence future generations. We express our sincere condolences and thoughts of comfort to the bereaved family.
