Doctoral studies, shortly referred to as Doctorate, constitute the third cycle of studies offered by the Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest and aim to develop knowledge through original scientific research. They allow the acquisition of a Level 8 qualification according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and the National Qualifications Framework.
Doctoral studies are organized by IOSUD – UTCB in accordance with the National Education Law no. 1/2011, HG no. 681/2011 regarding the approval of the Code of Doctoral studies and the Institutional Regulation for the organization and conduct of doctoral studies.
Doctoral studies are only full-time studies and can be funded from various sources: the budget, grants obtained through competition, tuition fees or other sources.
Admission to the doctoral program is on the basis of a competition held in the month of September of each academic year. Master or equivalent graduates are eligible, including college graduates with a duration of 5-year university studies, from the doctorate fields accredited in UTCB, but also from related fields, with the obligation to undertake an additional general knowledge examination. Doctoral students that have been admitted have the obligation to sign a contract for doctoral studies.
