Dear PhD students, dear colleagues,

We invite you to participate in a series of two webinars to raise awareness of the dangers of discrimination and favoritism, organized by the Centre for Research in Applied Ethics (CCEA) within the project INSTRUCT 5 – CNFIS-FDI-2022-0397

The two webinars will take place on the Microsoft Teams Platform, team “FDI INSTRUCT 5 – ONLINE WORKSHOPS”. Please join the team using the code 5yno3ya

Through the open discussions and interactive methods that it intends to promote, this workshop aims to help participants to become aware of immoral behaviors in the academic environment in which they work and to combat any kind of abuse in the relationships between teachers and students, between superiors and subordinates or between administrative staff and teachers or students. Discrimination on grounds of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, etc., nepotism, favouritism or other forms of biased behaviour, lack of transparency in decision-making and in setting evaluation criteria, conflict of interest, bribery, fabrication of research results, harassment of any kind are topical issues of concern to students and teachers alike, which are usually dealt with superficially in academic ethics courses taught at university, focusing mainly on plagiarism, self-plagiarism and other forms of intellectual fraud. Therefore, a workshop focusing on the specific issues of discrimination and favoritism in academia is a good opportunity to familiarize ourselves with other important aspects of academic integrity.
